Purpose

The DryRun is an event meant to challenge participants to design and build robots that can navigate outdoors.

Current Status

The 2008 Spring DryRun is over. There is talk of a fall 2008 DryRun in, roughly, October; a change of venue may be in order.

Past events

History

The first DryRun was organized by Dean Hall in response to interest from members of SHARP and held on April 12th, 2008.

The name "DryRun" was chosen for these reasons:

• In hopes that Houston's sometimes wet weather would stay dry for just one day.
• The DryRun serves as a practice for DPRG's Outdoor Robotics Contest.
• The park where the first event was held did not allow alcohol.
